Hit-and-Miss Gas Engines (Updated 12/2006)
Bill and Nancy DeWire have slowly been accumulating hit-and-miss gas engines over the past 40+ years, but their interest in engine collecting and restoration has really taken off recently. Since his retirement in 1993, Bill has been able to spend a lot more time fixing and restoring his engines. The couple also attends and exhibits at several engine shows in north central Pennsylvania, and they have even traveled as far away as Georgia to purchase new engines and to New York to find engine parts. Bill and Nancy now have about 20 hit-and-miss gas engines, in addition to a growing collection of old farm equipment, tools and other interesting antiques. Bill and Nancy’s children set up this website in 2004 as a Christmas gift for their father. We hope you enjoy sharing our passion for engines and other antique equipment. You can write e-mail to Bill and Nancy at: nancydew@juno.com.
Bill works on restoring his engines in the garage near his house. His family got him a hit-and-miss engine for his 60th birthday.
